John Wynn, founder of IMSARC is appointed by the World Bank to conduct a review of the current status of Inland Waterway Transportation (IWT) safety in Bangladesh, This project will commence in late January 2019.

John Wynn, MD and founder of IMSARC is appointed by the World Bank to support their team with the implementation of a project to establish a Search and Rescue and communications system on Lake Tanganyika. The main objective of the assignment is to support the World Bank transport and digital development team in managing the quality and realism of the outputs of a feasibility study to identify and evaluate cost-effective and institutional options for the establishment of a Search and Rescue Service on the lake.

This month will see the introduction of a new MF/HF R/T and DSC transmission capability from our site at Wattayah in Muscat. Equipment is provided by Barrett, (Australia) and will be integrated into the operating system provided by Frequentis (Austria).
May 2016
Upgrade of Oman's shorebased AIS network will see a further 3 new sites added in the South of Oman extending from Duqm to Deem on the border with Yemen. Installation will complete by the end of May 2016.

New Maritime Radiocommunications Operations Centres (MROC) successfully established in Muscat with four radio sites providing all GMDSS communications and AIS receivers.

Contracted by Qnective Middle East LLC to assist with the design, implementation and procurement of a shore-based maritime Radiocommunications infrastructure including GMDSS sub-systems for Sea Areas A1, A2 and A3, AIS, NAVTEX, COSPAS-SARSAT GEO & LEO LUT's for the Sultanate of Oman. Qnective Middle East LLC in association with their Omani Partners has been awarded a license to establish and operate the maritime network services through Royal Decree 09/2013 for a period of 15 years.

Sub-contracted by Milieu Ltd as a Senior Technical Advisor for an EU project - “Evaluation study on the Implementation of Directive 2009/123/EC on amending Directive 2005/35/EC on ship-source pollution and on the introduction of penalties for infringement”. The project is being led by Milieu - a dynamic and multi-disciplinary consultancy based in Brussels, specializing in providing high quality legal and policy services.

The World Maritime University (WMU) is developing a project on Search and Rescue Research related to Passenger Ships, carried out under the auspices of the International Maritime Organization's (IMO) Maritime Safety Committee (MSC). The objective of the project is to gather information about ongoing research with regard to SAR and areas of concern that could lead to future research projects in the above context. The WMU SAR Information Platform has been created (and is currently under development), the aim of which is to facilitate the gathering and exchange of SAR information, including research projects, studies, promulgation of training courses, national SAR-related legal documents, conferences and seminars, evaluation reports of SAR exercises, SAR-related pictures etc. For more information you can visit the WMU's new SAR web portal at www.sar-info.net
